1,500,000 Butterflies
I am still sick. In fact, I think I might actually be dying. I'm not normally melodramatic about these things but it's been a while since I've felt this icky. So, what's a girl to do when her brain doesn't feel like engaging in work, but she's out of re-runs and recorded television to watch? Why read blogs and draw of course.
While blog reading, I ran across Two Dresses Studio and the Butterfly Project Open. Trudi over at Two Dresses is acting as a sort of rest stop for handmade butterflies bound for the Houston Holocaust Museum's 1,500,000 Butterfly Exhibit which will be on display in 2013. I was so inspired by this idea I made not one but three butterflies which are now in their mailing container ready to head off to Trudi's place to mingle with the beautiful butterflies she has already collected until she sends them on to the museum in December of this year. I still don't think of myself as an artist but I did thoroughly enjoy working on this project and was really happy with how they all turned out. I'm also going to use the blue-tipped one for the Zentangle Weekly Challenge - which is the first time I've submitted something for inclusion in that project.
My other two butterflies...
The yellow one includes the poem that is being used as an inspiration for the entire project by the Holocaust Museum.
