[Book Review] - The Egyptian Codex
The story is what you would expect from a book with the title "The Egyptian Codex." A researcher is searching for a piece of ancient text. Craziness ensues. There is a love story. There are bad guys. The story is not gripping but it is deceptively fun. I didn't know it when I chose it, but it turned into a perfect flight pick. I finished it over the course of two connecting flights in the domestic US so it's a relatively fast read.
Generally, I liked the book. My critiques are minor. I was reading an advanced review copy and am providing this review voluntarily. Likely, since it's an advanced copy there were a few minor editing issues still in the text. I hope those are resolved in the final published text. There is a juxtaposition in the book of faith and science that is very superficial. This isn't necessarily bad for a light read but at times it felt like the author wanted to go deeper and didn't. There are a lot of characters and many feel underdeveloped.
Again, generally a good read if this type of adventure is your thing.
