The Poem
Eavesdropping 101
"I don't understand anything."
another tone
she repeated
silence...a few seconds...a nervous little laugh
silence prolonged
a small tired voice
"All right then."
"We'll go back."

Today's Approach
I flipped through several pages until I found one I thought would work. I decided just to write the words on paper. I edited a tiny bit more when I typed it. Again, the appearance feels like it's more important than the words. I'm enjoying the creativity of that part far more than I'm enjoying the selection of the words for the poem.
In Other News
Tomorrow is Easter. I've had a challenging time with this being Holy Week and not making preparation to spend it with family and friends. I decided to make my mom's chicken salad with the last of my rotisserie chicken and some celery that's on its last couple of days of usefulness. I thought I'd share the recipe here. It's one of my absolute favorite of her dishes. This recipe uses approximate amounts so you just have to balance it out until the flavor works well for you. My note where I wrote down the recipe when mom gave it to me only has ingredients - no amounts. So I guessed on amounts that probably will work.
1 cup finely chopped cooked chicken (grilled is actually the best, but any chicken works fine)
1/8 - 1/4 c finely chopped celery
1/8 c finely chopped almond slivers
1/8 c finely chopped craisins
1/8 c shredded parmesan cheese
1 t salt
1/2 t pepper
ranch dressing
Mix all ingredients together. Coat with ranch dressing. Allow to sit in fridge overnight if at all possible.
No matter what, if I eat this, I think of my mom. We've eaten this for many celebrations and I'm happy to know I'll have it to mark this most unusual Easter Sunday. Funny thing, when I checked in with mom and dad tonight, they are also making chicken salad!
