Liberate Swap Blog Hop and My Swap Announcement
This summer, I participated in Kat Sloma's Liberate Your Art Postcard Swap. This is the first year I've participated in Kat's swap and I am so excited to show you the beautiful cards I received. The one shown above is from Kat...our hostess. Everyone received one of her beautiful cards - isn't that a gorgeous picture?
The first card I actually received was from Karen Claverie. You can find out more about Karen at her blog at http://giddyupletsride.blogspot.com. I love the Zentangle inspired design. The flowers are my favorite part.
I got a second card that featured Zentangle...this one is from Cris. Cris is at http://tangledupinart.blogspot.com. I love the use of color in this one. Gorgeous!
If I remember correctly, this was the second card I received in the mail. This is from Kate at http://www.kmericks.com. She included a lovely quote on the back..."Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will." The quote is from A. W. Tozer. What a great message to include with a piece of mail art.
I received this beautiful photograph from Pam. You can learn more about Pam at http://www.kassiesbeach.com. Pam also included a great quote on her card - this one from Norman Hale, "A friendship is but a flower and this friendship I pass on to you, so please take my flower and friendship so you can pass it on to others too."
The final card I received came all the way from Jan in the U.K. Jan included one of my favorite Picasso quotes, "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
Receiving art in the mail makes me smile every single time it happens. I also love how so many of the cards I get include quotes in the notes or messages. Since we're writing, normally, to folks we don't yet know, a lot of people include a quote or other sentiment. I want to take that one step further in my first hosted Postcard Swap.
The "Words of Inspiration" swap is open for registration now! The only rules for the art you create:
It needs to feature a quote in the art...add it to a photograph, work it in with mixed media, tangle around the words, etc. Use any quote that inspires you.
It needs to fit on a postcard.
On October 15, I'll send each person who signs up the names and addresses of five other participants. You'll send cards to each of the five people whose names you receive. Sign ups are open to everyone so you will likely be sending cards to International participants if you live in the U.S. International participants will likely have several U.S. names and addresses.
Registration is open now. You should be able to sign up using the form below. If that doesn't work, you can link to the form here. I'll be posting more ideas and samples here on my blog between now and the end of October. If you'd like to see those updates, now would be a good time to subscribe to my blog. If you'd like to see a couple of simple ideas now, check out this post and this post.
You can grab the button for the swap to put on your own blog or site.
