OLW Blog Hop - Saying Goodbye, Saying Hello
Happy New Year!
It's time for the last One Little Word Blog Hop post of 2012...and the reveal of my One Little Word for 2013. I've enjoyed this project over the last year and have really stuck with it. I now have an album with 10 of the 12 posts done - which is well more than I did in 2011.
In this month's project, we were to journal some facts and feelings about our word and about our year in general. My word for 2012 was intention. It chose me at the end of 2011 - there was no question about that. But, in the end, I don't know that it was the best choice. I continuously felt like something was missing this year. It was - word notwithstanding - an incredibly emotional year. I interviewed for a job I didn't get, I changed bosses, I've moved offices, and that's just the tip of the iceberg of what has happened at work. I struggled all year with the fact that there are things at work I don't feel comfortable sharing on my blog - but things I need to write about and get out anyway. I have the same problem personally - I haven't yet found my balance in blogging and I want to do that in 2013. Learn to share what I'm comfortable sharing and find a private outlet for those things I'm not willing to share publicly, but that I still need to write through. While it has been a good year, I'm not unhappy to see 2012 go and have a fresh start in 2013.
So, the word for this year...it's something I've come to think of this year (not accurately from a grammar standpoint) as the opposite of intention. The word I've chosen for this year is action. I look forward to seeing what I can get done in this new year. And, to get things done, we need action. I was originally drawn to the phrase Lights, Camera, Action...but instead chose to focus just on the last word. I do want to pick up my camera more and I want to lighten a lot of things - from wall color to my own body.
So, here's to looking forward to 2013. I've picked out a few quotes to help guide me this year. I thought I'd share those with you as well. I hope you have a wonderful New Year's Day and that this new year gets off to an action-packed and amazing start for you!
"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always gotten."
- Mark Twain
"When you do something all the time, even if you move too slowly for others to notice, the constant motion produces surprising volume and achievement."
- Jude Hill
"The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience."
- Eleanor Roosevelt
And, the final quote was sent to me by a dear friend as his wish for the New Year. It is also my wish for you my friends.
"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art - write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."
- Neil Gaiman
